2016 Spring June 4 Saturday

On the road, which is bringing back memories, as we reverse the route we took so many times from Memphis.  

Weather was good, traffic wasn’t bad, and the first leg of our trip went well.  

The Camry hybrid averaged slightly over 40 mph (according to the car mpg calculator) so that is better than the 17 mpg we used to get in the other car!

Looking  forward to seeing friends and just seeing some of the old venues, as well as the CMA Fest later this week.

It has been almost two years since we made this trip by car, but we still remember everything, who has the best bathrooms, the best place for a rest stop the best place for coffee etc.  

It is strange that everything is the same, yet everything is  different.  All of the stores so far we stopped at are still here, and basically the same, even to almost the same people visiting and the same people working, but it isn’t likely it is the same.  

Even the hotel we stayed at so much (the one we are at now), the lady who runs the breakfast remembers how I like peanut butter (and her peanut butter cookies) and left me peanut butter cookies in our room!

Unfortunately, we have to leave early so I won’t be able to personally thank her.  

As the designated planner for trips we take, I am proud of myself on this trip.  Nine of the 11 nights will be “free”  (based on credit card points, staying points etc.), although this will just about  use up all the points we accumulated over the past 19 year! Not a big deal, we accumulated them to use

Now, if only I could get free parking…. Actually we do have free parking at all but one hotel, but that is our five day one.  I am still pondering on how to handle that. 

That is the CMA Fest, so we really don’t even use our car (too much traffic ), so I am considering alternatives. 

The next few days postings will be disjointed, either much shorter or longer than normal.  Today will be shorter since we are basically traveling and need to start very early in the morning  (Darn, wee’ll miss the free breakfast!)

I am going to post this early and may post more later today.  

Off we are going on the second stage of our trip.
