2016 Spring June 11 Saturday

2016 Spring June 11  Saturday

66 degrees this morning.  Non formal walk, 12,387 “iPhone” steps.

Yesterday (Friday), spent most of day at “Fan Fair” (which is inside and cool!).  We saw Katie Armiger, Marty Haggard, The Bellamy Brothers, Lila McCann, Confederate Railroad, Jimmy Fortune, Erica Nicole, T. Graham Boone and Wade Hayes.

Katie Amiger was a young performer and not whom I thought it was, but was still enjoyable.  Marty Haggard is the son of Merle Haggard, probably a plus and a minus (as far as his performances being judged).  He was actually very good.

The “Bellamy Brothers” were excellent and entertained a huge “standing room only” crowd.  Lila McCann was entertaining  Confederate  Railroad is a band I have wanted to see for some time, and I enjoyed it.

Jimmy Fortune was an excellent singer, as was Erica Nicole.

T. Graham Boone was also excellent, and, like many performers, was honest about his battle with alcohol, probably something that basically ruined his career.  Still an excellent performer.

Always enjoy watching Wade Hayes.  I remember his songs from his heyday in the “90’s”, some of which are my favorite songs and I always make a special attempt to see him.  He had a serious bout with cancer, which probably has affected his endurance and his career.

Wade Hayes is also the only one we saw with a fiddle player!

All probably could be in a different career stage depending on the Wheel of Fortune.  All were  god and enjoyable and one of the major reasons we keep attending CMA Fest, we get  to see the human side of the performers and get to see performers we probably wouldn’t see or even hear about

I am making a note of that mainly for my records as I am sure I will be struggling to organize my photos and determine who is who!  I try to get a good picture of every performance.

Probably I will upload all of my pictures to Amazon and then just make “albums” of the most important and put all the other photos in a “Review” album that will probably never get reviewed!

We really enjoyed the daytime activities.

The night concert was a little different.  They appear to be losing control over the crowd, drunks are getting louder and more disruptive etc.  Also the sound system appeared to be defective and garbled much of the sound.

Anyway, performances we saw at the evening concert included Clink Black, Chris Stapleton, Sam Hunt, Eric Church and Hank Williams Jr.

The evening performance was definitely mixed.

Clint Black was great.  We don’t have any idea why Chris Stapleton was invited to perform as a Country Music show or what type of music he actually performs, he was so bad.  Sam Hunt was obviously for he very young crowd.  Eric Church was good, except for the sound system.

Hank Williams Jr., as normal, was a puzzle.  He had about 50 of his crew set up the stage and then only did 3 songs, which was weird.

As  I mentioned, the drunks were disruptive and we will probably see if we can change tickets, since generally people get 4 day ticket and are in the same area.

We actually get our money’s worth from the daytime activities etc., but it would be nice to be able to enjoy the evening performances since for the most part they are supposed to be the “stars”.

For the record, Thursday we saw Peyton Taylor, Bobby Marquez and Jeannie Seely and Terri Clark  during the day and at night, The Oak Ridge Boys (national anthem), Charlie Daniels Band, Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert and Rascal Flatts at night.

CMA Fest enters it’s 3rd day and we are anticipating some good performances and experiences today.  We may try to change our seats for tonight, but probably won’t have much of a chance, but we’ll just deal with it!

I am going to work on my photos while the memory is still fresh!

That’s it for now, Saturday, June 11, 2016.
