Winter 2015 December 24 Thursday

47 degrees this morning, no walk, head cold, coughing

Went to medical clinic yesterday. got some medicine for my cold and coughing. Apparently I have “Acute bronchitis”.

I need to delve into what causes that,  This is the second serious case this year.

The medicine helped at first and then wore off, but I realize it is cumulative and will work better as time goes by.  I wish I had gone sooner, but that is something I need to remember in the future.

I saw  a Nurse Practitioner.  Nothing against Doctors, but I have found what I have and some other  similar professions (Physicians Assistant) Is frequently better to see for minor type medial problems because they tend to focus more on such items.  A Medical Doctor is frequently so busy on other items, they simply don’t focus on all aspects of the problem.

Probably this is especially true at “Urgent Care” centers.  Anyway, I found most of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to give excellent care and know when you need to see a medical doctor.

Probably rain, ice and snow this weekend through Monday.

After a peered like this when I can’t exercise for medical or other reasons, I always start to wonder how I found the time to exercise!  However, when I start to feel better, somehow I find the time again, or at least make time for it.

I think part of it is being sick takes a lot more out of you than you realize.  Being sick takes a lot of energy, you sleep more and just spend more time not feeling well!

Aliene and my Christmas activities have almost changed to being mostly on Christmas Eve, so today will be a major part of our Christmas activities.  Fortunately I have today off so I can enjoy them.

No matter how you may feel about the Presidential Election, this has certainly not been a boring Election

I have read about Presidential Elections so much in perspective of history, it will be interesting how this election is reviewed in future years.  Of course, that is still to are determined.

Personally I think they need to go to more of a “percentage” voting rather than the “winner take all” where it mades several states so important that other states your vote is almost meaningless.

One of the big problems I see with making local elections the same date as national elections is that the local issues get lost in the press coverage on national and state issues and so the local Vote is determined by voters who may have little interest or knowledge in local issues and just vote based on little knowledge.

Of course, this is the perfect occasion for “big money” to decide local elections, not discussion of the issues, which probably is why some politicians are pushing for the same election date.

Lobbying groups hoping for huge consulting and construction congrats etc. will become the deciders of local elections to the huge determinant of the residents.  A true local candidate simply won’t be able to afford to run for local office.

What little residents save by not having a separate election, they will lose to loss of local control, inflated contracts etc.

What is always strange to me is that your vote actually counts more in the local election as far as how it directly affects you, but all the attention is on the national and state election.

That’s it for now, Thursday, December 24, 2015.
