Fall 2015 October 2 Friday (Happy Birthday Aliene!)

57 degrees this morning, walk 37:51 minutes

A Happy Birthday to Aliene today!  The time has gone fast!

57 degrees this morning.  I didn’t even try to sit outside, although I may figure a way later, at last that I can sit on the inside patio.

Today is the First day I wore a stocking cap and a half face mask/neck warmer  on my walk (there is a name for it that I can’t spell) due to the cold.

If I don’t wear the mask over my mouth I will have a coughing fit from “exercise induced asthma” in cold weather although I have some “puffs” that also help a lot.

Purchased a “Pulse Oximeter”.  I didn’t realize such a thing existed, at least “over the counter” at a reasonable price until my sister, Eleanor mentioned it to me.  Nice to have a nurse in the family sometimes!

Of course, right now I am using it to check my oxygen level  and the pulse all the time.  Probably not necessarily a good idea, except I feel that I have adapted to live with lower oxygen (not really).  I am surprised by how much it changes.

At least I do know that the oxygen machine actually works!  While I am using it, the oxygen level is right up there.  My oxygen level is lowest right after my exercise (walk) and probably it will be the same after my swim, but I think that is normal.

I wouldn’t be too surprised if here isn’t an “app for that” that measures your oxygen by putting your finger on the camera lens, like the pulse app.  I should have checked on that before I put out the money for a pulse oximeter.

I have a credit card that has “price rewind”.  It I put something in I purchased, the credit card feature will automatically check for a lower price and refund me the difference!  There probably is a minimum and maximum, I haven’t really checked into that.  Actually, it says if they find a lower price I can “request” a refund from the credit card company.  I’ll see.

That will clear up the anxiety of worrying about getting the lowest price!

New eye glasses are doing fine, I really like them.  My only problem (if it can be called that) is I forget I have them on when I get in the shower etc.

Still listening to the  book on Elon Musk.  As I mentioned, “success” frequently if measured by cronyism with the  government and good luck, as well as skill and ability.  Telsa got a 457 MILLION dollar loan from the government and lucked into a auto manufacturing plant (the GM/Toyota joint plant that they had just abandoned) for literally nothing.
Not to minimize other skills and abilities, but no one really does it by themselves.  (The Space X program also receives a lot of upfront funding from the government that I’m sure they get from lobbying and cronyism.)
Day off yesterday and today (from working last weekend).  It is nice.  Yesterday, of course, I scheduled so much stuff I almost felt like I had been working!  Not really “working”, but we did schedule in a full day of activities and may do the same today!  Or not, which is what makes it so nice.

Actually I enjoy most of my job so much, I enjoy working, but it is still nice to have a few days off to take care of some personal stuff and just have a change of routine.

Of course that is one of the the things I enjoy most about my job, is it isn’t routine and it is something different every day.

That’s it for now, Friday, October 2, 2015.
