Spring 2015 June 19, Friday

70 degrees this morning ; walk 42:17 minutes

I always feel good when my field day at work consists of a lot of “We’re glad to see you, we have some questions”.  In most cases they really mean it also!

As part of our security system we have a front door security camera that notifies us whenever someone comes to the door and it  takes a short video tape of what set off the alarm.

Whenever the security system is armed or disarmed, we get a text.  We also can access the video (a short video) of anything that sets off the camera.

Thus far, rain/wind have set it off twice, a large moth or small bird set it off and this morning at 4:30 a.m, I was creeped out by a text saying there was a “video event”.

What looked like a possum had come up to our front door and set off the video! Probably was coming up looking for bugs or something.

We are glad to have the added security.  So far the false alarms are just letting us know the system works!

It seems at every move, there is a point where it just seems overwhelming and then you realize you just need to take it one box at at time and set priorities, such as setting the kitchen up, getting the cars in the garage, getting the office set up clothes in the closet etc.

It feels good to live in our own house.

I think the house we leased would have been better if it wasn’t for the owner not fixing the driveway, “taping” over repairs instead of doing a decent repair that will last etc.  Even though we were paying first class lease payments, a very nice house was not being maintained as it should.

We think the owner had fallen into the trap of short-term thinking.

Not fixing the driveway sinking was really the final straw.  We just decided we weren’t going to live like that.  Life’s too short.

We are planing on moving the final items from the “old house”.  This includes getting ride of the boxes in the attic, and moving all of the final little items, tools, cleaning supplies etc  Then we will have it cleaned.

It was a good house and we enjoyed it.  The house being located right across from the park was both a good news/bad news location.  We enjoyed having the park to look at and I could see if anyone was swimming so I could go swimming if the pool was being lightly used.

Also, people being across in the park was somewhat of a crime deterrent.

On the other hand, you always felt like anything you did in the front year, including when you left and arrived, was  a very public event.

Also, the sound of the basketball being bounced on the court could be annoying, although I quickly learned to tune it out.  In a way, I was glad the kids had a place to play.

The part was amazingly small for the area it was supposed to service.  Another example of the lack of planning and concern for it’s citizens by this city and the amazing power of the developers/developer/commercial complex in this city to do as little as possible at the expense of the citizens for their maximum profit.

Of course, they just count their money and go on, leaving the residents to deal with poor planning, poor quality buildings and gross lack of facilities.  So what else is new?

That’s it for now, Friday, June 19, 2015.
