2016 Winter February 10 Wednesday

28 degrees this morning, walk 35:27 minutes

Strange thoughts while walking.  This morning I heard a coyote (I assume) howling, and I had the vision of a werewolf  suddenly springing out of the nearby trees to attack me!

Such are the thoughts of the early morning walk!  For some reason the dogs (in the distance) were much more active this morning.  I heard not only the howl of the coyote but the barking of a pack of dogs.  I don’t believe it’s a full moon.

Saving my “cashback” earnings on my credit card for either an Apple iWatch or Apple  iPod Pro. About 30% of my way to an Apple iWatch or about 15% on my way to an iPad Pro.

Of course, you normally have to take the base price and add 30% to actually make a decent product, so I’m probably have about enough to pay for the extras!

In any event, it will wait until the costs associated with the move, the “new” (to us) house etc. shake out.

The insurance on the house was startling to say the least.  Allstate coldly  tripled the premium on the new house without any explanation (obviously Allstate will be our “ex” insurance company after our move).

We did find cheaper insurance (actually a lot better coverage) and found Allstate was extremely high (almost double!) other insurers on  our car insurance.

We even got limited “earthquake” insurance on our house.

The “good hands” of Allstate are actually grabbing for your wallet, not protecting you!

Reading about the Super Bowl and the commercials, half-time show etc., I have to wonder if I saw they same thing they did!  I certainly didn’t get the same impression many of the writers did, but then that is not unusual.

Listening to the biography of Woodrow Wilson, he has just died.  I hadn’t really realized how well he was respected or some of his many accomplishments (and some blind spots).

I think his obsessive behavior about the League of Nations was probably necessary for him, but I think in his obsessiveness, was also he weakness.  Probably if he had been able to compromise, it would have been a better result.

Obsessiveness is an interesting trait.  Some obsessiveness is probably necessary to reach your goals and get “grand’ projects done, but too much probably makes you unable to compromise and in your obsessiveness you lose what you want the most.

Of course, the key is knowing how much to give so you don’t lose your objective.

Probably one of the most illustrative examples is the book “Left for Dead” by Beck Weathers as he narrates his obsession with mountain climbing, especially climbing Mount Everest.

I actually heard him speak, basically the first few chapters of his book where he goes into the actual situation of being “left for dead” and being referred to as “that dead man in the tent”.  (He got up the next morning and was rescued by a very brave helicopter pilot).

He left some scars on this face and hands to remind himself of his obsession.

I had already read “Into Thin Air” and the speech got me  interested me in reading about mountain climbing.  I never had even the slightest urge to try it myself, but I still enjoy reading about it.

It also interested me in obsessive behavior. (Such as written a journal each morning!)  More about that later.

2016 Winter February 9 Tuesday

33 degrees (feels like 25 degrees) this morning.  Walk 35:33 minutes.

Actually, the winter here is just as I remembered it-nasty and disagreeable.  Even though I know it is worse elsewhere (or better if you like really cold weather and snow), winter here is not a good experience, at least for me.

Yesterday the wind howled all day, nearly blowing people off their feet.  Where the temperature wasn’t extremely cold, the wind made it a lot worse.

The Presidential campaign is certainly one that I am sure will be well-examined in the future!  It is truly amazing.

I expect this campaign will be examined both for the candidates and the voters.  While I am sure “social media” has been used a lot, the old-fashioned debates and personal contact with the voters has played a major role.

I don’t really think the primary system is fair by any means, allowing a handful of voters who hardly reflect the United States population to have an oversized impact on who will be President.

However, it does allow the candidates to focus on a single state and makes it interesting.

Last night at Toastmasters, one of the member’s project was a “panel discussion”.  The discussion was on technology and it’s impact on “relationships”, all types of relationships, business, social, family etc.

I think it, at least in my mind, reinforced the theory that technology can have great value in assisting people in living a better life, but hopefully it will not become a replacement for life or life experiences.

While i don’t play video games, I think there is a lot of positive aspects about video games, at least many of them.  Like anything, there are some that are just junk and a waste of time.

Actually, I used to play video games, now I just don’t have the time for it, I have too much else I want to do.

Recently, we bought a GE “LED motion sector night light” that the box said would last “12 years” (or something like that).  It probably cost $12 or so.

Of course, it fails after about three months.  We hadn’t bothered to keep the receipt or box, especially with moving.  I complained to GE (or rather just pointed out their product had failed).

For some reason I get a coupon in the mail for $5.00 for GE lightbulbs!  The response had no relationship to my original comments.  Apparently GE doesn’t really listen!

Anyway, rather than just throw it away, I decided to send it back with an observation that it has no relationship to my original comments.
Obviously I have no desire to buy any more GE products.  I can understand the product failing, that happens, but they should have some way of simply replacing the product.

No matter what you say about Walmart, I bet that if I took it back, without the box or receipt,  they would give me a new one, no questions asked.  (I don’t remember if we bought it at Walmart or Ace Hardware, so I’ll probably just toss it and try to avoid  GE products in the future, and make sure I keep my receipt and box.)

We soon will be moving (which is one reason we didn’t keep the box etc.).  Of course now we will have fears like is there a barking dog around, is there some traffic noise we didn’t hear, is their good cell phone reception etc.  But I guess that is part of life.

That’s it of now, Tuesday, February 9, 2016.

2016 Winter February 8 Monday

39 degrees ((feels like 29); Walk 36:27 minutes

Basically back to “normal” after a lot of exercise helping move Saturday.

Coughing is basically over, with a few spells when I hit cold weather.  I guess I’ll need to start using my “puffs” during the day, other than just before I exercise.

Hopefully will get back into swimming, bicycling and the exercise machine machines soon.   I feel like I can control my cough etc. now, but it is basically a matter of resuming after we move.  I hate to delay too long because it takes some time to get back into the full swing of it.

Frankly, I am glad the Super Bowl is over.  Fortunately I can just ignore the hype in reading and skip through it on the tv.  (Even news shows were having “news” about the Super Bowl which made me grateful for the DVD and that we tape all of our shows.

I have to admit, I did read that the commercials were going to chock full of “celebrities” .  Probably says more about me than it does the commercials, but I didn’t recognize a single “celebrity” in any of the commercials, which probably also means I missed the point!

Oh, well, such is life.  I don’t really feel I missed anything, so I didn’t.

We did tape the Super Bowl and watched it on a “delay” basis, but we did make a conscious decision to try to watch the commercials and just skip the “analysis” of the game with the talking heads that is always so boring.

It also means that Winter, at least as far as the potential for snow and ice is also waning.

I finally quit reading the on-line “USA Today” at breakfast.  The “news” was becoming more oriented towards sports and “celebrities” that it wasn’t worth it for the good tech news they had.  Also, the on-line version of USA Today had a lot of “news” that was  really just the opinion of the editorial staff and not “news”.

I am really looking forward to Spring.  It seems like it has been a long, boring and colorless winter.  Not that my life has been uninteresting or bad, just that the weather has been so drab.  I am ready for the colors of Spring.

While I denigrate the considerable money and time  and water wasted in planting and maintaining plants and grass which was never meant to grow in this area, it will be nice to see the colors of Spring again.

Of course, most the true beautiful colors and plants are “natural” plants to this area.

Gasoline is down to $1.15 per gallon here, something I thought I would never see.  If it goes below $1.00 (other than gas wars or special sales), I know I never thought I would see that again.

I realize this is the “other side” of the “Supply and Demand” market that many people (including me) support at least in theory.

In this case, while the gasoline  is cheap, I expect most people in this area would gladly pay more if it would  benefit the local economy, which of course it would.

Of course, as usual, airline, utility, delivery  customers etc. don’t see the benefits of low fuel costs, although the they. certainly cried enough and couldn’t wait to add “fuel surcharges”  when gasoline was high and now don’t pass on the savings.

Since I drive a hybrid, my cost of gas has literally decreased to a nominal amount, something like 2.5 cents per mile for gas.  I like the hybrid anyway (it has great pickup, almost like a V-8, except without the sound) and will gladly take any savings.

2016 Winter February 7 Sunday

38 degrees this mooning (feels 30), walk 37:55 minutes

Walk took longer than normal.  Spent  yesterday helping move and I was surprised I was able to walk my normal walk this morning, although I took it easy.  I skipped the weights, sit-ups etc. I figured I got enough of that yesterday!

The weather, while chilly has generally been nice, in that it didn’t snow, rain etc.

We are only a short time from moving ourselves, assuming there are no last minute problems.  I think your biggest fear is there will be some irreconcilable problem at the house, such as an incessant barking dog etc.

Or, like one house, we looked at it at least 3 times and never heard the Interstate traffic (which was a good 1/2 mile away and screened by a golf course.  Of course, the very first night we found out the bedroom was kind of a focused point for noise from the interstate, especially trucks.  It came and went, but even though it was a nice house, we were glad to move when the chance came.

Moving also always brings up what you keep and what you don’t.  Even if you have room to store it, I always have to think why am I dragging stuff around, especially something that can be replaced for a nominal amount!

I think the older I get, the easier it is to toss or donate stuff, although maybe it is that the moving just makes we  realize there is no need to haul stuff around you can replace.

As I have mentioned before, probably one of the worst aspects of moving are the way you became fair game for every “fee” anyone can imagine or maybe even not imagine.  I realize some are justified, but it just seems like they really just pile on when you are at your most vulnerable.

Our insurance company (Allstate) has normally been fair and provides good service.  However, we were stunned whey they tripled our Homeowners Insurance for our “new” house.  No explanation, no apologies, just a “that’s the way it is”.

We did complain (since Aliene has had Allstate almost her entire adult life and we have had Allstate 18 years and never had a claim), but I doubt that it will do any good.  They really aren’t very good or reliable “hands”!

Of course we are switching, and found that other insurance companies provide better coverage at a better rate, especially for the auto part of the insurance package.

Of course, the problem is we will lose our “1st accident forgiveness” and the credits we built up so we don’t have a deductible, but…..

Of course, what did surprise us was the substantial increase in the deductible by all insurance companies we checked with, but, as I mentioned before, the wolves select their own regulator through political contributions, so what do you expect?

I am always surprised that when people support electing judges.  Talk about the wolves selecting their own regulations!  I remember reading about some of the political contributions to elect judges.  While there may not be a quid pro quo, the fat cats make sure they elect someone who will be easy on them.

Listening to the biography of Woodrow Wilson, he is not in his last year as President and probably not really medically qualified to be President.

It has been an interesting book to read, it illustrates the problems of non-compromising, the problems of arrogance, the importance of involving the opposition in your plans early and probably the importance of recognizing when you  aren’t able to fulfill your duties.  Stubborn can be good, but there are times when you need to consider the greater good.

2016 Winter February 6 Saturday

40 degrees this morning, walk 36:24 minutes

February 6 has frequently been an interesting day for me.  My life has altered several times on February 6 (actually for the better each time).  That is, to me it seemed like for the better at the time.

On the other hand, you never really know if something is for the better, since it is impossible o “unwind” time and see what would have happened otherwise!

Better to just make the best decision you can and not worry about it!

Smelled the strong “scent” of skunk this morning.  Nothing makes you more alert that the scent of a skunk, other than maybe the rattle of a snake.  Although I think I’d gladly take the snake before I tangled with a skunk.

One time on my walk, I encountered a skunk (at least an animal with a white stripe) walking down the trail.  I very quickly turned around and went the other way!

I always associate the skunk smell in the air with Spring, so maybe it is  foretelling an early Spring, which would be nice

I remember several years ago, it warmed up around this part of the winter and never really got cold again, it just seemed to stay warm.  One of my favorite memories!

For some reason Peter Paul and Mary’s “Puff the Magic Dragon” is running through my head this morning.  Why,, I don’t know.  Maybe I heard it someplace and didn’t realize it  Especially the part about “little Jackie Paper”.  I thought maybe I had mis-remembered the name, but I checked on Google and it was right.

My  iPod is now on tune 654 of 6544 songs “Suite Judy Blue Eyes”.  I listen to it while I write this and sometimes while I eat breakfast and do other things before I start work.

My heart and imagination leap a little when I  read that the International City Managers Association was having having another  meeting in China.  Doubt that I can swing it this year, but it is fun to think about it.

This meeting is oriented towards people who would be interested in consulting work, which is something I would like to do.  This time, I probably would just go for a short time, maybe the meeting and a couple of days  before or after.  It is in a different part of China so that would be interesting.

Just looked at the  results of my lab test I recently had.  The advances caused by the internet etc. are truly amazing.  In the past, I may have gotten the results when I saw the Doctor.

Now I get an e-mail that they are available and I can go look at them right now!  they are all “normal” range, which is good.  I think.  That is the only problem, if you read them and don’t understand something, it could make the wait to see the Doctor seem like a long time!  I think this is also only part of them.

Glad the weekend is here.  I enjoy my work, but the weekend is nice also.

I  researched some more about a possible touch screen on a future Mac.  Of course, there is a lot of “no way”, but also some possible thoughts about it. Hopefully the computer (my MacBook Air) will last for several more years.

Strange to think we will be moving in the near future (assuming everything goes ok).  I am sure we well have second thoughts, as well as discover things we like, but that is part of the process.

One thing I won’t miss is my “across the street” neighbor who opens his garage door every morning (early) and starts his noisy car and lets it run for 15 minutes and then takes off in a roar.  It is the roar of one of those pathetic small engines, not even a decent roar!

That’s it for now, Saturday, February 6, 2016.

Winter 2016 February 5 Friday

31 degrees (feels like 23) this morning.  Walk 35:24 min.

I think I saw the true face of the greed, arrogance and sub-human behavior of many (not all by any means) of the corporate executives who spout “it’s best for the stockholders” (and of course even better for their personal aggrandizement) when the “most hated man” in America showed his juvenile behavior before congress yesterday.

I happened to be in a place where I could watch it and I was amazed at the evil he displayed.  At least he states his true feelings (greed and arrogance) rather than hiding behind “its’ best for the stockholders” even if it kills people and causes suffering at a minimum while he drinks his $5,000 bottles of wine.

I am amazed someone like him could ever be the head of a company.  What a joke.

Anyway, I guess that fits with the things I really can’t do anything about, so there is no use wasting time about being angry about it.

On things I can do, I can refuse to buy products of companies who display such behavior and I will when i can.

I really enjoy the “touch” screen of my work computer.  I will probably “jump ship” if Apple doesn’t have a touch screen when it comes time for me to replace my laptop, which I hope isn’t for a long time yet.  However, I will not buy a laptop without a touch screen and if Apple doesn’t have one, then I simply won’t buy an Apple computer.

There is nothing wrong with some arrogance (that you think you are right), and I think Apple has provided excellent products with that, but ….I am not buying another laptop without a touch screen and that is that.

It may will be that when Steve Jobs died, Apple lost it’s touch and can’t keep up anymore.  Too bad because they have produced some super good products.  (as well as some not so good, but the super ones make up for the few bad ones, such as the iPod with the volume controls in the headphones).

I hope I am wrong about Apple losing it’s touch, but not having a touch screen yet etc., shows amazing inability to keep up with what people want.  That includes the “basic” iPhone and iPad only having 16 Gig, which is very misleading and simply not keeping up with the times.

Reaching the point in the Wilson biography where he has stroke (apparently).

It makes you wonder what would have happened had the League of Nations been approved.  It may not have made any difference, but we’ll never know.

Super Bowl this Sunday.  I saw the very first Super Bowl and I doubt if I ever imagined what it would turn into when in reality it is just another football game.  I think it is good that people have fun with it, but after all the hype, about midway in the first quarter you realize it is just another football game.
Of course you can say the same thing about any “championship” game, it isn’t the best team or individual, it is the best team or individual that day.

Of course, life is a lot like that.  Even though I comment that “life is the moments of everyday living”  (or like someone said-something to the effect of “life is what happens while you are waiting for life to happen”), still life if marked by the big events, the turning points of our life.

Maybe what describes a true “champion” is being able to be “up” for those turning points in life, whether you are a sports team or an individual.

As an example, if an individual isn't “up” for a job interview etc. you won’t get the job, you need to be able to make decisions to grab at an opportunity etc. and not get lost in indecision.

Friday, and the first  week of February of 2016 is already over.

That’s it for now, Friday, February 5, 2016.

2016 Winter February 4 Thursday

25 degrees (feels 19) this morning.  Walk 35:54 minutes

Winter weather is back!  Hopefully one of the last times before it warms up.

Listening to the book on Woodrow Wilson during my walk.  While I am amazed at how much time Presidents had back then for personal activities, I also note that they didn’t have computers, internet, tv, radio etc. to reach the public.

In the book, he is currently on a trip  across the country to get support for the League of Nations.  The book mentions the continuous train travel, speaking up to 4 or more times a day, really without the benefit of modern technology.

That probably diffused the power of the President to influence the pubic as they had to use other media to reach the public.

Obviously radio, tv, internet etc. are substantially changing the President (and all elected officials at all levels, but in their election and their administration.

Of course that applies to all businesses and organizations as most businesses and organizations use a wide variety of  ways to communicate.

Somehow, it usually ends up being the same old result, although many of the new methods do provide much better support.

I can remember my awe many years ago when I called an “800” number and a GE representative told me exactly who to fix the ice maker on my refrigerator! Now you just expect that, probably over the internet as much as toll free telephones.

Without sounding like a broken record, I am daily disgusted with the process of purchasing a home, getting a mortgage etc.  The ways of getting fees out of you and the blatant greed is almost as bad as the incompetence of the government regulations.

It is strange that the “mortgage crisis” of 2008 etc. was created by the greedy and criminal actions of the loan and underwriting industry, and instead of correcting that problem, suddenly it is fault of the home buyers, and, of course, it provided the opportunity to add even more “fees” to applicants.

Soon the home buying system  will break under the weight of the greed of the loan and underwriting industry and government incompetence.  Of course, don’t forget the insurance companies who contribute huge “contributions” to  elect the “insurance Commissioner” in this state, so they pretty well have their way with consumers.

Moving is proceeding. It is a balance between packing and leaving enough out to live. We will have a three day weekend before we move, which is good, but it also means I won’t be able to enjoy the Holiday!  I”ll take a day of vacations sometime to make up for it!  Actually, I am glad it worked out that way, it will make it a lot easier.

Otherwise, just coordinating everything is a major event, remembering all the little details that are so important.

And of course that is on top of all the time it takes to respond to the stupid government regulations that must have been written with the goal of trying to make sure no one purchases a house (or that there is a “got cha” that they can come back to get you).

What really is infuriating  is that I know they are a result of the greed and criminal actions of the banking and loan industry who were allowed to keep their ill-gotten gains and keep on doing what they were doing while they add burdensome tasks and fees to consumers.

Going out on a Field Day today, working some of the new monthly accounts I was assigned.  It is always interesting to meet the new businesses etc. and try to resolve the problem, or maybe the  correct wording is, how to resolve the problem.

That’s it for now, Thursday, February 4, 2016.

2016 Winter February 3 Wednesday

34 degrees this morning, walk 34:35 minutes

Sometimes the realization hits me that time and money are somewhat the same.

There is never enough time to do everything I want because of the little ways I waste time “piddling” or doing things that are not a priority.

Of course, knowing what is a priority may be the major decision!

Same with money, when I look at the “little” recurring expenses, such as magazine subscriptions that “automatically renew”, fees that continue for things you really don’t use anymore, little expenses that seem insignificant until you realize how much they add up to during the year!

On the other hand, many times the so-called “insignificant” ways we spend our time or money may be some of the keys to satisfaction with our life!

I think our lives are “lived” in the small moments of each day, and the small moments make up the real tapestry of our lives as we look back (or forward).

Of course there are momentous events or decisions that significantly affect our lives, but the little moments, the  little events are what really define our lives.

So, I have to think that how I spend “small” amounts of time or money are not insignificant and I do need consider if an activity or something I buy is “insignificant” and low priority, or something that is the foundation of my life, that holds the structure of my life together.

Of course, looking at it that way, I think it can help set priorities for both time and money.  When I stop to think about it and ponder the question, I think I can analyze and decide what comprises the foundation of my life and what I can do without.

The difficult part is acting on your decision with the resolution that you are making the right decision!

I am going to get started on it, maybe first by analyzing how I spend money and time, without getting anal about it and spending so much time on analyzing that it prevents me from reaching my objective!

I am thinking I need to use the same pattern I use (or at least try to use) for living a more minimal life without so much “stuff”.

I take the things I want to keep first and then the rest of it goes.

That could be good way to budget time and money.  Just use it for what you know you want, and you will have set your priorities.  Easier said than done, I know.

There used to be a budget fad with cities, “zero based budgeting”.  The concept (which works in some imaginary world in outer space and another dimension) is that you have no recurring expenses, that every item has to justify itself each year.

With this theory, I could look at all my expenses, especially the nasty little fees and “continuing” expenses etc. and ask, “do I really need this in my life”.  Or maybe “what do I need in my life” and cast the rest aside.

Ditto with time management.

Of course, the problem is that there are always a certain number of items you “have” to have, so those become non-negotiable and the “zero base” loses its validity right there

On the other hand, it may be a good way to start.

I decide when I get some time to think about it!

That’s it for now, Wednesday, February 3, 2016.

2016 Winter February 2

2016 Winter February 2

48 degrees this morning.  No walk (rain)

Today marks 19 months since we moved to this area and 16 months in my current job.  Somehow, it seems a lot longer than that.  I don’t mean that in a negative sense, but I have a hard time believing it has only been that long, especially since our move.

I still feel like I have have a lot to learn about my job, so it hasn’t seemed that long.  I am surprised and pleased that I found a job I like so much, and that is actually more than a job, but also an opportunity to help.

Of course, I am very disappointed in the lack of planning and community design of the City.  They kowtow to commercial and apartments so much I am surprised there aren’t more lawsuits about the negative effects and the destruction of residential areas by allowing commercial businesses to build right next to exiting residential areas, including no lighting or noise pollution controls.

Speaking of current events, I am amazed that any state (nothing against Iowa) is allowed so much impact on the next President.  Of course the media hype is what is really to blame for that.  That is almost obscene that one state (or a small number of states) are allowed that much impact.  Hardly the way a true democracy would do things.

Heavy rain and lightning last night. A lot better than snow and ice!

Only about two weeks from moving, assuming everything continues to go ok.  I am amazed by the onerous system of fees the industry has set up to basically victimize people who are buying a house.  They are worse than a cell phone company.  How they can blatantly charge such fees for non-work is almost theft.

Either today or tomorrow I get a large number of my new accounts for the month.  It is always fun to anticipate what each account will bring.  I get a small number during the month, but the first of the month is when I get most of them.

Each account has it own set of problems and personalities involved, and it frequently becomes almost like a puzzle trying to resolve everything.

Just thinking about the number of e-mails I get each day.  I miss the old system when I could simply block many of the e-mails.  Many of them are “legitimate” e-mails, but still just junk I have absolutely no interest in.  It seems that many organizations or businesses feel “more is better” and “quantity is better than quality”.

While it is an advantage, the fact the e-mail addresses and cell phone numbers now go with you when you move etc. (for the most part) it is also a disadvantage that e-mail addresses and cell phone numbers go with you!

Unlike the past, now I not only have junk promotional mail from “new” businesses and organizations, I still get them from where I lived years ago!  Even when I try to “unsubscribe”,  it is difficult, even when I explain I can’t use their service anymore.
It is actually a matter where the advertisers put the expense on you.  While it may not be money, it is time to delete the junk, which is even more valuable than money.  It doesn’t cost them anything to keep e-mailing junk mail to people, but it costs them to stop sending it!

I know there are controls I can use, I need to just get busy and set them up, but again, it takes a lot of time to do so, time to find what works etc.

I always feel a little ill at ease when I don’t walk in the morning.  It isn’t the exercise (I think) as much as the time to get ready for the  day, to be able to “think” without having to feel guilty about doing “nothing” but thinking!

That’s it for now, Tuesday, February 2, 2016.

2016 Winter February 1 Monday

36 degrees this morning, walk 35:33 minutes

A little colder this morning, apparently more cold weather coming in.

I think another invention 3-D printing, has been below the radar after it was hyped up, but I think it will eventually surpass the hype.

I saw a 3-D printer in the mall the other day that will print almost any trinket you desire.

What really  caught my attention was a TV host with a lot of cars (I don’t recall his name) noted that he had two 3-D printers (probably the industrial type) that he could “print” parts for his old cars.  He didn’t need to go to a machine shop any more or a junkyard, he just printed out the parts!

In a related story, I read recently about Doctors “printing” out bone parts and, if I remember correctly, an artificial hand.

Next will come 3-D printing of body parts with human cells, including hearts, etc.!

Imagine what it will be like if people no longer have to wait for transplants for hearts, kidneys, etc!

To say that will revolutionize a car repair and health care is putting it mildly, if you think about it!

Like all inventions, I am sure that it will be used to in both positive and negative ways we haven’t even though of (printing out of guns etc.).

I have read about operational cars that are basically designed and printed (the body parts etc) and the car body and interior I have  is completely recyclable.

I think considering the cost of design, building prototypes etc., this will be a major factor in all industries.

I have been trying to stretch my mind to think of the limitations of 3-D printing.  Obviously there are limitations and the operational 3-D printers are still limited, but what happens when major advances are made?

I have a feeling I can’t even imagine the changes 3D printing will made, probably in just the next five years!

I will need to read up on this some more. Not to go out and buy a 3D printer (maybe 40 years ago I would have!), but just to consider the changes it will bring to society and to the world.

Tie it into Virtual Reality etc, and the possibilities for change are endless.

I think that is what I miss most about the time spent in moving, all of the time spent in looking up and  responding to the insane and time-wasting  requirement of the government, etc. and you don’t have a lot of time for reading or thinking.

I really can’t even imagine what they were thinking on some of the just stupid and expensive requirements they made.  They should have used the time and energy on the criminals who ripped everyone off in 2008.

There is even an big “warning” that the “FBI investigate fraud” in mortgage applications!  Tell that to the bankers and thieves who make billions ripping people off, not the person applying for the mortgage.

Anyway, I hope to get time to research concepts like 3D printing etc. and keep up with what is going on.

February 1 of 2016.  One extra day this month but it will still be gone before we know it!

That’s it for now, Monday, February 1, 2016.
