I am disappointed in my new Trek bike. I went on a ride yesterday and the high gear wasn't working again. Today the back tire was flat. It was been a very disappointing bike. I think the gearing is a manufacturing defect.
Other problems may work themselves out over time, or it could be defective gears. My 6 year old bike seemed to have better gears for hills as well as down hill. The Trek does do better on flat land, but how much flat land do you ride on.
What really hurts is that I am missing some prime bike riding weather (I like to ride in the hot weather) and I can't go very far from home since I am concerned about the gears and tires! I really don't intend to take the time to change the tire all the time.
