Winter 2015 January 5 Monday

18  degrees this morning 44:48  minute walk, four earthquakes

Wee end was full of family activities including taking care of a great granddaughter for several hours Sunday afternoon.  It was entertaining and interesting and very enjoyable!  Earlier had a breakfast and a lunch which was fun and an opportunity to catch up with other family members.

I definitely am going to return to my “eating plan” (I hate to use the term “diet”, since that implies it is temporary.)  I am reviewing some of the books I have to try to review some of my eating habits.  I haven’t done my weekly weigh-in yet, and I really don’t want to!

When I started working, my new schedule made it difficult for me to bicycle.  Since I knew the schedule was temporary, I just kind of waited it out.

However, it is now time to get back to bicycling as part of my my exercise program.  I’ll cut the walking a little on days I bicycle  and use it for bicycling.  I also will try to bicycle more at other times of the week.

Starting a full week as well as the first of the month at work.  This is the time I get the majority of my new projects, so I will be busy at work, which is good.  Planning on a field day today (Monday) anyway and should receive a bunch of new projects sometime this week.

I look forward to new projects, it is like opening a present, as I get to know the circumstances and the people involved.  As I mentioned before, a lot of people go into business without full knowledge of what it takes to go into business.

The holidays somehow came and are gone before I was even ready for them!  Actually, I really enjoyed the get-togethers, presents, food and conversation!

Taking care of a 9 month old was very entertaining, and also tended to substantially increase my awareness of small items that a 9 month old might eat!  I had forgotten how fast babies could crawl and how much energy they had!  Also, how hard it was to get them to sleep!

As I look to the year ahead, I have to wonder, again, what will have happened when I write this on January 5, 2016.  Certainly there was no way I could  forecast the events of 2014, although after 2013, who would know?

The first working day of the year is frequently the day when I evaluate myself and consider where I am and perhaps where  I would like to be.  The options perhaps narrow as the years go by, but there are always options.

I always like to consider the power of doing a little bit each day to change and the power of changing behavior by either doing something or not doing something I am trying to change “just for today”.

Some years ago, I learned about “continuous improvement”, which means (in my mindI) I try improve a little bit each day, never being “satisfied” with my current situation or ability, but that doesn’t mean I am “unsatisfied” either. It just means I am aware I have potential to be better and that is where I want to be.

I wish everyone reading this a Happy New Year and especially wish you the courage, passion, dedication and ability to obtain your goals and wishes this year.  Have a great year!

That’s it for now, Monday, January 5, 2015
