52 degrees this morning, walk 39:12 minutes.
I know now why I am a devoted Apple fan. My Granddaughters phone was dropped. ATT, with “insurance” charge to replace the phone was $199. Apple provided a complete new phone “out of warranty” for $118 (including tax). It was a little unusual in that they thought a screen would fix the problem for $118, but if it didn’t they’d provide a new phone for the same price (except in the case of water damage)
Apple did it in an hour, ATT tried to shunt me off on some web page which asked for all kinds of affidavits, scanning items, e-mailing them back, even sending a copy of my drivers license over the internet, which I wasn’t about to do.
At least that decided me on where to buy my phone and future phones! Now that I think of it, I have bought all of my previous phones (and other Apple products) at the Apple store and been very pleased with the service.
I still haven’t pulled the trigger on upgrading my iPhone 5. Subconsciously I think I am thinking maybe I can wait until next year when I can get an iPhone 7! Of course, if I use the Apple program, I will get each new model, so I’ll get an iPhone 7 as part of the deal, although I’d have to trade in my 6S.
Occasionally I’ll simply sit and marvel at what the iPhone does and how this one product made such a difference in our lives.
Weather during my walk was still, clear and cool. I listened to “Wild”, the book about the person walking the Pacific Crest trail, and looked up at the clear sky (it is dark enough out here I can still see the stars when I look up) and wondered what it would be like to out in the middle of nowhere by yourself
In the book, she is continuing her walk. She mentions the feeling of closeness at the people who walk the trail, where you feel like you know someone after you read their name on the sign-in roster (this may be the wrong term) at different stages of the trail.
I saw a picture of a snowy Colorado mountain road (I assume it is a picture of current conditions). I am not ready for snow, although technically it could come at any time. Here, it normally is around Christmas before the snow etc. starts.
Yesterday, a short thunderstorm came in. I rained hard from about 30 minutes, then the sun came out and the streets were dry in a short while! During the rain I couldn’t help but think what it wold be like to be out in it without any shelter!
Planning a Field Day today. Hopefully it will be a nice day weather wise.
Yesterday at the YMCA, I was listening to someone talk on his cell phone in the restroom. (I don’t know which is worse, his talking in the restroom in a loud tone or me listening.)
Anyway, he was commenting about he feelings about this area. He was not complimentary. He had observations about low pay (correct), beliefs 30 years behind the times (both true and false, not necessarily all bad) and various other negative comments.
Reading about how fast food workers wanting $15 and politicians who support that feel that it is perfectly acceptable that teachers make the same amount! Nothing against anyone making livable wages, but for teachers who are responsible for educating our children to not receive a decent wage is simply inexcusable.
That’s it for now, Friday, November 6, 2015.
