47 degrees this morning, walk 39:31 minutes
Aliene got back last night. She had been with her son during his back surgery. It is great to have her back.
She left on Monday and got back last night (Saturday). It is hard to explain how it feels to be by yourself when you are used to being around someone all of the time. I ate some strange things in the past week!
Airports on a Saturday are always quiet, it is almost sad. Most of the stores are shut down and there is not of the hustle and bustle you see at other times. It is almost like you can feel the pent-up energy, really to jump when the crowds come back.
I saw one of the best “witch” costumes last night get off the airplane, I believe it was a Southwest Air Flight Attendant. If I believed in the classic witch, I would say I had seen one, it was so authentic.
Time change today, I always feel like I have been given the gift of an extra hour in the Fall, when it “falls back’. I also would a lot rather go west that east, and “gain” an hour or two.
I woke up at my normal time and used the time to doze etc.
One thing I really liked about China is it is 13 hours “ahead” of the U.S., and it seems like you are “ahead” almost a full (working) day!
By the same token, I don’t like to go east or in the Spring when Daylight Saving Time “spring forwards”. Of course it is all an illusion anyway.
Started another fiction book, which kind of surprised me. What happened was I causally started a book and then got hooked on it! Has a different plot, which is nice.
In “Wild”, the book I am listening to during my walk. she is now well into her walk on the Pacific Crest trail.
She has met a bull, a bear, a rattle snake and ants, all within the first stage of the walk!. Currently she is at the first rest camp.
She describes the joy of being able to eat something other then trail food!
I plan on getting some training on the “exercise machines” this week. I figure it is time I get started. My cousin, Ken, recommended several books on getting the most out of the machines and I ordered them.
I am always a little surprised when I see or hear of someone who injured themselves by pushing themselves on exercise, especially when they aren’t in any kind of competitive sport.
I think one of the reasons I delayed on the exercise machines (and swimming lessons) is that I don’t view it as something that should become an obsession, but just something that I do and I don’t worry about having to “take it to the next level”.
Currently, my weights etc. are short enough that it is something I just do. I don’t obsess about increasing weights or receptions etc.
That is what I like about my current schedule. I walk, but not a lot, I swim, but not a lot, My weight lifting and situ ps don’t take a lot of time. One area where I do want to develop some stamina is in my bicycling and I am working that!
The first week of the month. This is the week I get all my new accounts, it is kind of like Christmas, I have a bunch of new activities this week. Actually I have been around long enough, I am getting some “repeats”!
Looking forward to today with the “extra hour” and also having Aliene around again!
