Fall 2015 November 4 Wednesday

63 degrees this morning, Walk 38:21 minutes

Windy this morning, which makes it hard to dress, since it seemed so much colder than 63 degrees.  Also the wind varied so much, I assume based on the houses etc. (no trees to worry about!:)

Really felt the stiff wind when I rode my bike yesterday.  I am still in “training mode” (actually I guess we are always in “training mode” in just about all aspects of our life if you really think about it!    When you quit training you on the next step training for that.

That isn’t like always being advised to “take it to the next level”.  I view “taking it to the next level” as always viewing something as a challenge, never feeling satisfied with where you are.

By contrast, “training” is responding to the natural changes of life as you proceed.

For example, in my swimming, at some point I will will have a natural progression to either developing in my swimming or wanting to try a new swim stroke.

If I was “taking it to the next level”, I would already be worried about my time, not having already learned new stokes.  Sounds like “work” to me, as opposed to just naturally progressing.

Perhaps an example of “training in place” is my walking.   I am satisfied with the time and speed that I walk.  I look forward to it and enjoy the time I spend on it.  I am sure that at some point, I may decide to walk longer or whatever, but what happens, happens.  I have no plans whatsoever to even consider taking my “walking to the next level”.

On the other  hand, my bike riding, I hope to develop more stamina and I do hope to take my bike riding “to the next level” and several levels beyond the next level, but I don’t intend to push myself, I will just try to keep  riding every day or so and gradually increase my time and distance.

Right now I look forward to my daily swim (except for the first few seconds of jumping into the cold water, which I quickly get used to!) and dI don’t want to make it “work” that I try to find an excuse t avoid!

Just thinking about my “home office” this morning  I really enjoy it, and I definitely know I get more work done than I would in a normal office environment.

Got my new work computer.  It is wonderful. We depend on our computers as much as we depend on anything (everything is done through the computer system), so it is nice to have a computer with a nice screen and, most of all, lighter!

I am used to a Mac Air as my personal computer, and there is a major difference in the weight as the day goes on, or even for just a few minutes!

If I am figuring right, it is only three weeks from Thanksgiving (tomorrow).  I am already noticing the difference in the malls, almost like Halloween is the new start of the holiday  shopping season.

I don’t really bemoan the stores opening earlier for holiday shopping each year.  They obviously wouldn’t do it if people didn’t respond to it.  I especially feel like holiday shopping is so important for especially small businesses that I don’t blame them for trying to take advantage of any opportunity

Listening to the book “Wild” on my walk. She is well into her walk, and is currently perhaps learning what she wanted to learn about herself  (and perhaps others) by taking the walk.

There is one scene where a fox stops and  looks at her and then goes one.  She suddenly feels like the fox is her dead mother checking on her.  That isn’t the first time I have seen a fox considered in such a manner, although this may be the first time in non-fiction.

I plan on enjoying the warner weather while it is here!

That’s it for now, Wednesday, November 4, 2015.
