2019 Spring June 21 Friday

82 degrees this morning, 84% humidity

Beautiful day yesterday, got up to 90’s, little wind and a lot of sun!

Exercise yesterday:

-Walk:  28:37 minutes
Pace 19 seconds slower than goal
-Swim:  22:15 minutes
-Bike ride (outside):  22:45 minutes

Last day of “Spring 2019”, Spring ends at 10:54 a.m. (CDT) this morning.

One of the things I love about Summer are the long evenings, where the sunset lasts until 9:00 p.m. or so.  It is wonderful.

Of course as soon as Summer arrives, the “light” shortens.

This has seemed to be an especially long Winter/Spring.  Maybe because we didn’t get away this winter, plus all of the rain and cold weather .

I am listening to a book on  “Great Mythologies of the World”  during my walk. What is interesting,  includes  traditional “myths” we normally hear, but also from Africa, Asia, Native Americans etc..

It is interesting how many of the “myths” are generally similar, while different due to specific cultural or geographic reasons.

I thought it was interesting that one of the narrators mentioned that oral myths changed, but  when they were written In prose or poetry, they “froze” in time and didn’t change to keep up with the changes in the world.

It has a PDF with it which will be nice to review and brush up on some of the details.  There is so much, it is easy to forget or become confused, so it is nice to have a PDF to refer to.

Due to a blip in the local AAA baseball schedule and our schedule, we haven’t ben to a baseball game for a month!  That is a long time when the local AAA season is only basically 5 months!
Hopefully the rains will stay away and we can enjoy some baseball (win or lose!)

The Courter Reunion is coming up, which is a marker of sorts.  It has been on-going (roughly) for 72 years.  It is easy to gauge the changes in our lives when seen through the scope of the family reunion.

I had a few years of not attending, but I believe I have attended almost every year since 1987, and of course I went with my family when they attended when I was growing up.

I remember the park we used to have the reunion at.  I remember it as being huge, but when I saw it as an adult, it is a relatively small park!

That’s it for now, Friday, June 21, 2019, the first day of Summer 2019.
