26 Degrees this morning, (feels like 19) 80% humidity
Cold and rather nasty day yesterday. Day started at 34 degrees, high was 47 degrees, wind make it colder.
Office day yesterday so I avoided most of the bad weather. Hopefully today will be much better, since I have a field day. It isn’t looking good this morning thought with a start of 26 degrees!
My cough , etc., is much better, hopefully the medicine is working well. I would love to get rid of it all together.
I did order some face masks to help with cold weather. Hopefully I can get used to driving with the face masks on. Of course I can’t wear them into businesses! It may or may not help.
2019 will be over in just a few hours. I really haven’t given it a lot of thought, except that the year 2020 always seemed far into the future and now it is suddenly here. I don’t have any forecasts or qualms or even any New Year Resolutions, although I normally don’t have a New Year Resolution/s, since I kind of do that during the year.
I have been thinking of my favorite quote to repeat in December. I probably will repeat it when I retire, or have a major change in my life.
Quote from "And the Mountains Echoed"
"Now I was free to do as I wished, but I found the freedom illusory, for what I wished for had been taken from me. They say, Find a purpose in life and live it. But, sometimes, it is only after you have lived that you recognize your life had a purpose, and likely one you never had in mind”.
I first saw this in December 2013, right after a major change in my life and it resonated in me as what I had done for 37 years suddenly changed, literally in a few hours.
Over the last six years, every time I review this quote I am still struck at it’s powerful message that perhaps only I can see, but if I see it still bring a tingle to my brain.
As life progresses, I think I see the different aspects of this. Frankly, I’m not sure if I understood the book all that well, but the quote hit me like a stroke of lightning and I will never forget how it affected me when I read it.
It relates to another favorite quote, “The World Without End is Ending.” I thought of this during one period when my life was dominated by an unreliable water tower that was close to be back porch, not extremely close, but close enough I could tell if the water level was low. I always checked the water tower when I stepped out to see if it was low enough I needed to call Public Works to check. Then one day I suddenly didn’t have to worry about it anymore, I was not responsible for it.
I saw a copy of the book in my library the other day. Maybe it is time to read it again.
That’s it for now, Tuesday, December 31, 2019.
