Winter 2014, January 22, Wednesday

16 degrees this morning.  Not particularity bad, since there was no wind.  I did my regular exercise (walk about 30 minutes, bike to ATC, stationary bike etc.)   Main problem is the amount of extra time it takes to dress for the weather.  An extra layer etc., it all starts to add up.
Newspapers arrived on time, which was good.  It gives me a good start on the day to be able to read them early, usually as I ride the stationary bike at ATC Fitness.  I just started using my "Fitbit Force". It is interesting how it keeps track of everything and "syncs" wirelessly, as long as I have the toggle in my computer.
I downed "box", which is similar to "dropbox", cloud (Amazon), Skydrive (Microsoft) and iCloud (Apple).  I like them all, although I use dropbox and cloud the most right now.  I got 50 GB free on box, which was enough to decide me to switch to Box to store a lot of items!  I still need Apple iCloud to sync my information between all my apple devices (it actually automatically syncs my iPhone, iPads, laptop and desktop so everything I do on one is reflected on the other.
I feel like today is going to be a great day!  Nothing wrong with being positive! Some years ago, I did decide I was going to have to stop "living in the future" and start "living in the present", mainly meaning I wasn't going to put off so much to some "future self".  I guess that is about the same as was discussed in the "The Willpower Instinct" when a person feels they will have more time, have more willpower, be more confident etc. in the future.  Maybe it's not all that related after all, but it is somewhat the same concept.
Working on "weeding" "things".  Very difficult.  It is a littler easier if I am giving them away, at least I feel the item may have a useful life elsewhere, so to speak.
As far as the weather is concerned, I'm glad there isn't any snow involved.  I can deal with the cold.

Fall 2013 December 12 Thursday

25 degrees this morning.
Thursday, have a variety of activities planned today, including breakfast meeting (although I eat breakfast before I go since I have to desire to eat a breakfast of rolls and bagels, plus I am used to eating around 6 a.m.  Appreciate the effort though and I can always drink coffee.
I am coming to the realization that the Apple iCloud is probably basically useless for documents from word processing etc., when compared with Dropbox or even the Amazon Cloud or even Google Drive.  It is super for the calendar, notes, reminders etc. and worth it just for that, but I was hoping it would be at least as good for documents, but it is basically useless, as far as I can tell.  I've scheduled a 1 to 1 at the Apple Store on it, but expect ti will be bad news.  I am surprised they released an iCloud that is several generations behind Dropbox and Amazon.
I have tried to used Android products (Google Chrome, Matrix 7 etc.), but they just don't compare with Apple projects in my opinion.  Of course, for me, the main thing is that I can got to an Apple Store and get assistance.
I keep thinking I will ride my bicycle now that I have time, but I really haven't had the time, with the variety of other activities, plus the cold weather.  I'll make time when better weather comes!  I ride some almost every day, but it is a short "commuting" trip to the gym.  I need to work on my stamina

Fall 2013 October 29

57 degrees this morning, relatively  to yesterday, almost seems warm.
Tuesday, going to be a busy day today, with meetings etc.
Working on learning "Evernote".  Generally, a little disappointed in it, but I am learning new features.  I have had it for years (even the premium part) but have never really learned the full features of it and I am surprised at some of the limitations (as well as the crashes that concern me about the safety of the data).  However, I am learning new features and am appreciating it more every day. Highrisehq is a good database, but is expensive and tends to fail to save entries if you aren't careful.  The free Google apps are especially excellent also. All my opinion, of course.
However, nothing can beat the convenience of the Apple iCloud, especially when coupled with Notes, Reminders, and Contacts.  (The iCalendar, I find a little more challenging to use, although I am learning.)  I make one entry and it is reflected on my phone, tablet and computer.  I also acts as a nice backup.
I now am eating my breakfast right after my nap.  It helps me keep up with the time better, but I am still amazed at the how fast the morning goes.  "Hyper time" is truly the word for how time passes in the morning.
October 2013 is ending.  I really have a difficult time realizing 2014 is almost here.
